Interest Inventories Overview

An interest inventory is a test that is used to determine a person’s preferences for a certain field or activity.

Pictorial Interest Inventories can be great to explore employment with for clients who may be non-verbal.

Important Information: We only do interest inventories in the Engage Phase.

Make sure to be recording the results of the opportunities on the Engage Phase Plan document as you do them.

Engage Phase Document Interest Inventories:

  • Traitify

    ​Traitify is a visual personality assessment tool that recommends careers, jobs and education based on personality and preference data.

  • CAREERwise

    CAREERwise is a 10-15 minute assessment lets the user rate themself on 60 different work-related interests and then see which careers and majors they might want to explore. At the end of the assessment, they’ll find out which careers and related majors are a good match for their interests.

  • Traitify Reflection

    This is a reflection tool created by Traitify. It is meant to be used after the Traitify quiz.

  • Traitify: Profiling One's Career

    Use this resource to help you gather information to profile a career that your participant may be interested in. This is a great way to reflect on pieces of the career that are a great fit and parts that may not be as appealing.

  • Focusing on the Destination

    These are reflection questions meant to find employment interests, strengths, and goals.

  • Ice-Breaker: Exploring Employment

    If your client engages through ice-breakers or games, the Exploring Employment ice-breaker could help you discover some information about your participant that can help with their job goal and job hunt!

  • Employment Trajectory

    This is a reflection activity meant to bring out visions and ideas of what great employment looks like, things that help them, and things they dislike.

  • Past and Future Work Experiences

    This handout gives your participant the chance to reflection on great and not so great past work experiences, work experiences to avoid, and work goals.
